Praise the Lord with us that the Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration for children and families was a success. People respected our request to park elsewhere, meaning that the parking lot was available for playing games, telling a Bible story, and having a BBQ together. Some of the neighbours wandered over and watched or joined in for part of the time. Thank-you for praying and thank-you to God for answering prayer.
Taiwan now has registered more than 15,000 cases of dengue fever. Most are in the counties and cities to the south of us, so we are not sensing that this is a high risk for us at this time. The number of cases in the whole country is much higher than in recent years. Governments are fumigating drains to kill the mosquitoes that spread the disease. Predictions are that the peak of the epidemic will happen in October-November. Please pray for God to have mercy and protect the the people of Taiwan.
A strong typhoon is affecting Taiwan as this update is being written. Many people are still on the Mid-Autumn Festival vacation. Local governments have cancelled work and classes to encourage people be safe. The typhoon is expected to pass over quickly and there will likely be a return to the regular schedule on Tuesday or Wednesday.
We had visitors at our 9/27 Sunday Small Group Worship meeting. Please pray that as we now meet every week that there will be even more visitors. Pray that they will come with open hearts, willing to learn about what it means to believe in Jesus.
