2015 Vol 3

Scheduling is important.  We have been thinking about that frequently over the last couple of weeks as we record when we will meet with church groups while in Canada, when we will teach in schools, when we will have church activities, when we will attend meetings, etc.  Those are all important things to do and are a part of what is being requested of us.  But I was challenged in my reading this week by the question:  “Are the things you are doing helping you become the person you desire to be?”  I desire to be a faithful Christ-follower, a well-rounded healthy person, a loving husband, an encouraging father, an equipping-discipling church leader, a diligent administrator, a caring team leader, etc.  But if I allow the tyranny of the urgent, the requests of others to be scheduled first, I may not be working with God to become the person that He desires, becoming the individual that I crave to be.  Please pray for each of us on our team as we make choices that determine not only what we do but also whom we will become.

Thank-you for praying as we worked on the videos this past week.  Someone mentioned that we are video-genic.  I am not so sure.  Although we achieved success in accomplishing the tasks, there is room for improvement on future ventures.  It feels good to have those projects done.

Saturday (24th) is the final Children’s Weekend Happy Camp until after Chinese New Year.  Please pray that this last event of the first semester will be positive.  Pray that the children will register for next semester’s events, and that more children will join.  Lorne will be attending a meeting on Thursday morning (22nd) with representatives from all the churches involved in this ministry to plan for collaboration during the next semester activities.

Having a Taiwanese pastor for our church would be a great benefit to the work.  We are still praying for that.  As we wait for God to answer that request, we have been offered the opportunity to have a second-year Bible school student come assist us on weekends.  Mr. Lee will visit the church this weekend so that we can discuss this more.  Please pray for God’s leading in how He wants the details to be worked out.

We will be joining the other Spice Region international workers at a regional gathering next week.  Please pray for safety as we travel and that it will be a time of physical and spiritual refreshing.

Two sisters, who are Global Alliance Professionals serving at the MK school here in Taiwan, will be traveling back to Canada to be with family as their mother has heart surgery on January 27.  Please pray for safety in travels, healing through the surgery, and for the husbands as they remain in Taiwan (caring for the children while continuing their regular responsibilities).

Thank-you for being on mission together with us!
